Monica Carrera’s artistic work is characterized by a minimalist language through which she investigates themes related to humanity, personal experiences, and the environment we live in. What does photography mean to you, and what do you want to communicate with your works?

For me, photography is a powerful means of expression. We know well that our subconscious operates primarily through images, clearly memorizing shapes and colors even after a long time. These images are the invaluable pieces that compose our imagination, fueling our fantasy and influencing our choices. This is why visual communication is so powerful.

Marta Scavone is an artist from Turin, born in 1998, who blends various expressive means to create visually and conceptually stimulating images. In 2017 she graduated in Fashion Design at the art high school and in 2020 she graduated with honors in Photography at the IED institute in Turin. Multidisciplinarity is a key word in her artistic approach. This time the “Who’s Next?” column is dedicated to a peculiar Italian artist whose artworks developed between the 1960s and 1970s in our country. Then she was consigned to oblivion at least until the early 2000s, when some scholars recovered her memory. We are talking about Ketty La Rocca, whose purpose was giving to art the task of defining the relationship with reality and its knowledge.
